Performs maintenance and conducts routine repairs, improvements and inspections for all equipment, support systems and the facility. Maintenance Specialist III utilizes various equipment including the following; machine shop equipment, hand tools, electrical testing, metal fabrication, carpentry and welding.
Performs basic electrical, mechanical, metal fabrication, carpentry or associated work on plant facilities and machinery using hand and power tools as needed.
Performs routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair or maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment by reporting directly to the supervisor.
Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial machinery including CNC machine tools.
Interprets moderate to complex blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications in order to determine malfunctions of equipment.
Sets up and operates all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work such as lathes, milling machines, MIG and TIG welders.
Constructs office or other work space areas as required. Maintains or improves all facility structure interior and exterior.
Performs other duties required for facility maintenance
Assists licensed plumbers, electricians, etc. as needed
Complexity of Duties:
Works under minimal supervision. Ability to work independently. Receives minimal to no instruction for assignments.
Ability to work in a noisy environment.
Ability to plan and lay out work projects by using moderate/complex judgment and logical thinking.
Ability to work under frequently changing priorities.
Ability to work in an uncomfortable environment, etc., extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and exposure to unpleasant odors and chemicals.
Ability to work overtime when needed
Education and/or Experience:
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must possess working knowledge of Machine shop equipment, electrical, CNC machine tools, hand tools and other maintenance related equipment.
Must be capable of operating a variety of machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and venires.
Must possess the ability to perform continuous tasks of a highly physical nature. This position does not allow for physical restrictions. Manual dexterity, agility, mobility, and strength are critical to this position.
Lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, reaching, etc. are continuous daily requirements.
Ability to plan and lay out work by understanding shop math and safety regulations.
Ability to lift materials, equipment and machinery manually up to 50lbs, with mechanical assistance, 100lbs.
Basic math and comprehension skills
Ability to understand, specifications, blueprints drawings, etc.
Ability to wear a respirator.
