Job Summary |
At Chesterton, we have a laser focus on our customers. This job impacts the customer by being responsible for setting up and performing a variety of inspections on manufactured assemblies & material to ensure compliance with customer, quality, and company requirements. Responsible for setting up and performing a variety of inspections, using predetermined methods on purchased or manufactured material to ensure compliance with customer, quality, and company requirements. The ability to set-up and measure the accuracy of compound angles and numerous dimensions in accordance with geometric tolerance requirements. The ability to interpret inspection requirements from blueprints/drawings, sketches and Engineering Specifications. Indicates acceptance or rejection of material based on quality inspection procedure dimensions / requirements. |

All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense. Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager. On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts. |

Responsibility |
• Inspects incoming raw materials and/or machined product to determine acceptability in accordance with quality plans, engineering drawings, specifications or procedures. | • Maintains quality records that are legible and easily retrievable according to documented procedures | • Maintains and adheres to Quality procedures and work instructions. | • Maintains and adheres to quality and safety policies & procedures. | • Assists engineering, manufacturing, and customer personnel in the investigation, and verification of customer and/or process problems. |

Complexity of Duties |
• Works under minimal supervision. Works independently & follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy. | • Must interact effectively with other department personnel, such as purchasing, manufacturing and engineering. May interact with external contacts on routine matters. | • Full use and application of quality tools and practices. | • Demonstrate skills in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements. | • Erroneous decisions, including incorrect inspection data, may cause delays in production schedules. | • Ability to work under pressure |

• Ability to inspect to Engineering drawings; quality procedures; purchase order requirements; product, process and material specifications and visual standards |

Education and/or Experience |
• High School or equivalent; Trade school or apprentice program preferred. | • Knowledge of machining operations, types of materials, inspection tools and equipment, and intermediate math skills. | • 2-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing/quality environment preferred. ASQ Certification in Mechanical Inspection a plus |

Other Skill and Abilities |
• Basic PC skills (Microsoft Office suite) preferred. | • Basic grammar / interpersonal/communication skills | • Strong math skills and the ability to understand drawings and use inspection tools. | • Demonstrated understanding of quality control principles and the ability to follow procedures. |
