At Chesterton, we have a laser focus on our customers. The Process Operator I is a frontline manufacturing position responsible for elastomer (O-Ring) cutting and seal face splitting for our 442C product line using measurement and inspection devices, manual tools, machinery, and cutting aids. Trimming and cleaning parts per instructions on a production order, drawings and/or specification in order to produce high quality products that meet the requirements. Periodically, the position will be instructing to aid in material handling and/or component picking/packing operation. |

All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense. Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager. On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts. |

|
A typical day at work would include: |
- Utilize cutting aids to accurately cut elastomers to specification or requirements.
| - Operate specialty equipment to split mechanical seal faces as needed.
| - Uses a variety of hand tools to adjust cutting aides and other tools as necessary (i.e., allen wrenches).
| - Performs visual in-process inspection of the product and segregates non-conforming parts from production.
| - Ability to trim excess material from parts using knives and hands to meet specifications.
| - Monitors machine performance, identifies operating errors, and takes corrective action.
| - Ability to trim, buff, or clean parts as instructed by the process router, drawings and/or specifications.
| - Suggests process and manufacturing improvements to increase efficiency in areas.
| - Assist the Production Lead or Supervisor in meeting shift or departmental production goals.
| - Adhere to the company safety rules and quality standards and procedures.
| - Maintain good housekeeping discipline in the work area which includes regular cleanup at every start and end of shift.
| - Complete the required documentation for shift production information in required reports such as Work Orders or product label generation.
| - Handle product with care to ensure safety and cleanliness during handling to prevent damage or cross-contamination.
| - Monitor assigned machine/s to ensure safe operation and escalate any abnormalities to Shift Lead/Supervisor/Manager and/or Maintenance.
| - Ability to inspect products for visual defects and non-conformance.
| - During low volume periods, this position will assist materials handling and/or component picking/packing when needed.
| - Perform other duties or tasks as required.

- 1+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
