This job can be described as: |
Makes all types of Die Forming Packing sets, molds and dies to closest tolerances. Works from drawings, sketches, models or instructions. Plans work to be done by most economical methods, utilizing proper machines. Cross checks work of fellow employees and may interact with engineering in regard to design work. |

A typical day at work would include: |
- Follow all Company policies, procedures and guidelines as well as take actions that support team work, safety contamination control, efficiency and good housekeeping.
| - Know and abide by all Standard Operating Procedures.
| - Follow the pre-production, make ready, and production run tasks.
| - Operate powered equipment
| - Ensure the work area is clean, and that non-conforming, over-runs, and/or waste are delivered to the appropriate repository.
| | - Follow and adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment rules and regulations
| - Perform other responsibilities as assigned
| - Responsibilities include confirmation of accuracy and completeness of order, dies, set-up and installation, paper stock, and the load and feed of paper, and the effectiveness and accuracy of cutting, staging completed work per instructions, and area maintenance
| - Develops and fabricates fixtures as needed.
| - Performs complex, diversified machining operations necessary to produce the Company's manufacturing products as well as experimental/prototype precision parts for field testing/test lab.
| - Machine work is performed from standard documentation, rough sketches, preliminary drawings, verbal discussions, and samples.
| - Inspects own work and performs quality checks to ensure conformance to engineering drawings. Cross checks fellow machinists and advises of any quality issues. Must support Chesterton Quality policies.
| - Maintains safe and clean work area on a day-to day basis.
| - Keeps informed of and follows machine shop safety policies and procedures.
| - Read and comprehend complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
| - Advanced mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
| - General guidance provided upon request for special assignments.
| - Manufactures complex components.
| - Advanced knowledge and understanding of all standard equipment in machine shop.
| - Performs diversified and sometimes complex machining operations. Exercises independent judgment in determining fabrication methods to be used. Frequently required to improvise and to use shop mathematics.
| - May contribute and advise engineering regarding design.

Experience you need coming into this job: |
- Apprentice training desirable.
| - 2 -4 years related experience in manufacturing and/or machine shop environment.
| - Works under general direction. No instructions needed on routine work.
| - Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written, verbal instructions, and sequence of events.
| - Ability to exercise independent judgment.
| - Ability to lift reasonably heavy loads up to fifty pounds on a regular basis.
| - Ability to work in a moderately uncomfortable environment, i.e., extreme heat and noise.
| - Ability to function as part of a team.
| - Ability to work under pressure and work well with others.
| - Advanced understanding of shop floor mathematics.
| - Advanced understanding of quality control principles.
| - Ability to use full range of measurement tools.
| - Ability to stand for 8 working hours.
| - Ability to wear steel toe safety shoes/boots.
| - Ability to wear safety eyewear.
| - Ability to work in a machine shop environment.

This role is a U.S. based role. If the candidate resides in the desired location of the role, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview. Targeted pay range: $24/hr. - $26/hr. Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($24/hr. - $26/hr. DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position.
