Job Summary:

Plans, controls and directs sales strategies and activities to meet business objectives and to achieve maximum sales results for the company’s products and services within targeted markets. Continually evaluates Chesterton markets to identify opportunities for sales growth. Provides leadership, sales knowledge and expertise of territory to other members of the company’s sales team.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs activities of territory’s sales functions/personnel to achieve company objectives for sales volume, cost of sales and market penetration.
  • Together with the Sr. Vice President of Global Sales directs activities for the territory and sets sales and inventory objectives for Retail Sales Offices and Distributors and monitors results to objectives. Provides leadership development, management and sales support. Coordinates field sales management and training efforts to enhance the ability of sales personnel to work effectively and achieve sales goals.
  • Supervises and drives Regional Director activities and target achievement.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with existing and potential customers. Enhance customer perception of company’s products and services, actively participates in selling efforts to support key accounts and call on high level contacts.
  • Provides leadership required to assure the sales organization remains customer focused and provide feedback to the marketing organization so we continue to strive for improvement in being a market- driven company.
  • Provides input to marketing for products/services needed within the sales territory.
  • Together with the Global Sales Management Team, participates in the development and planning of the necessary initiatives to meet the company’s sales objectives.
  • Optimizes sales resources within territory to ensure best return on investment and accomplishment of the company’s strategic and financial objectives.
  • Manages territory’s sales and expense budgets to budgeted levels.
  • Must be able to travel frequently within North America (75% of the time).

  • Requires high level strategic and tactical abilities.
  • Work is reviewed in terms of meeting organizational, financial and sales objectives.
  • Accomplishes results through subordinate managers and supervisors. Sets performance standards and manages employee performance.
  • Requires high level presentation and communication skills. Contacts are frequent with equivalent level inter-organizational executives, managers and customer representatives.
  • Full use and application of established sales and marketing theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Knowledge of government standards and requirements.

Education and/or Experience:

  • University Degree in Engineering/Marketing/Business or related field
  • 10+ years Sales and Marketing Management experience or equivalent combination education and experience.

  • Technical skills, ability to understand products lines and their applications
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict resolution
  • Understanding of computers and business systems
  • 75 percent (+/-) travel required.
  • May be required from time to time to take and successfully complete customer-directed drug and/or alcohol testing

Targeted pay range: $220,000 - $240,000/annually

 

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($220,000 - $240,000/annually DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered “leveled” positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant’s skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a “leveled” based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

 

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

 

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget.
