This job can be described as:

The Pump Mechanic III possesses a complete understanding of rotating equipment and pump repair and works with other team members in the pump repair process. Utilize experience and knowledge of equipment, procedures and product specifications. Assist with the training of new employees and ensure quality of products. Inspects work and performs quality checks to ensure conformance to requirements. Will record data for SPC, either manually or electronically. Works as part of a team, and must be willing to support quality and production goals. Cross checks other pump mechanics.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

 

A typical day at work would include:

·        Support and adhere to all safety requirements in the department including wearing appropriate PPE and following all safety procedures.

·        Build positive working relationships with co-workers to achieve productivity. Be part of the team by maintaining high personal standards of job performance.

·        Recognize pump repair issues and use expertise and knowledge to reach effective solutions.

·        Ability to fill out and complete each work packet with Initial and Final Inspection documentation.

·        Must be able to perform Final Q.C Inspections on all components, Final Assembly, Air Testing and Pre-Shipment Inspections.

·        Be able to Interprets and understands Prints, Mechanical Seal Drawings, OEM Manuals, etc.

·        Utilize precision measuring instruments such as: Micrometers, Dial Indicators, and Dial Bore Gauge to take accurate measurement within .0005”.

·        Performs work from operation and planning packages, which include process sheets, tooling lists, and blueprints.

·        Understands and can interpret engineering and shop drawings and customer requirements.

·        Inspects work and performs Quality checks.

·        Understand and support Chesterton Quality Policies.

·        Responsible for maintaining safe and clean work area on a daily basis. Keeps informed of and follows pump shop safety policies and procedures.

·        Work involves moderate to complex set-ups and close to critical tolerances on various material types.

·        Takes direction from the Pump Mechanic Team Lead. Provides training to various non-exempt manufacturing employees.

·        Checks own work with inspection tools, gauges, micrometers, indicators, etc., and has work cross-checked by a Quality Control Inspector.

·        Mechanic will perform disassembly of equipment while filling out Teardown Inspection Reports and must have the ability to write up a short detailed report for all necessary repairs needed on the equipment and of replacement parts.

·        Works well with minimal to little supervision. No instructions required for routine work.

·        Performs routine maintenance on equipment.

 

Experience you need coming into this job:

·        Minimum of 6-8 years related experience with machine tools in a Manufacturing/Machine Shop.

·        Must have in-depth understanding of API and other industry standards used in repairs of rotating equipment and pumps.

·        Ability to read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.

·        Requires solid math skills.

·        Ability to work in a Pump Shop environment.

·        Requires lifting parts, tools, and fixtures weighing up to 50 pounds.

·        Requires ability to read and comprehend engineering and shop drawings and blueprints.

·        Ability to function as part of a team. Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.

·        Exercises independent judgment in work with pump components.

·        Ability to work in a moderately uncomfortable environment; i.e., extreme heat, and noise.

·        Ability to train other pump mechanics as part of a team as required.

·        Ability to work as a team, and to work with other team members to find a solution.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of the job the employee works near moving mechanical parts. Exposure to high levels of noise and temperature in the work environment.

Targeted pay range: $34.00- $38.00/hr. depending on experience

 

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($34.00- $38.00/hr. DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered “leveled” positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant’s skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a “leveled” based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

 

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

 

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget.
