Job Summary

The Regional Director leads the sales operations and performance of multiple locations within a designated region. Manages regional budgets and resources. Leads and supports location managers to achieve performance targets, and coaches and directs the work of multiple sales teams who are responsible for selling organizational products or services. Manages regional distributor relationships and performance to ensure sales effectiveness. Supervision is often provided through a team of subordinate managers. This position is responsible for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination. Responsible for elevating and driving resolution of key strategic cross-functional issues

Responsibilities

·        Establishes and leads regional policies, goals, and strategic direction to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

·        Identifies, evaluates, and develops new business opportunities, including emerging markets and prospective business hubs within assigned regions.

·        Manages regional sales resources, including Specialists, Area Managers, and Field Product Technical resources. Helps establish sales quotas for teams and individuals and tracks performance against expectations.

·        Manages regional distributor relationships, including helping to train distributor Specialists, helping to strategize incentive programs and scorecards for distributor partners, and managing distributor performance.

·        Assists in corporate decision-making processes to maximize profitability and year-over-year sales growth shareholder value across short, medium, and long-term goals.

·        Collaborates with leadership to implement and execute strategic plans.

·        Develops and reports on business strategies for key programs and projects across all product lines.

·        Provides sales forecasts or related reports to leadership team for use in strategic planning.

·        Collaborates with Marketing to conduct market research and field visits to assess customer needs, dynamics, and regional considerations.

·        Leads cross-functional strategic meetings to ensure alignment and progress on key initiatives.

·        Address and resolves business challenges through collaboration with internal stakeholders.

·        Manages the regional P&L

·        Develops training plans with employees

·        Attends regional tradeshows as a Chesterton sales representative to develop sales leads and expand industry contacts.

·        Ability to work under limited supervision and resources, as an independent contributor, or within a team.

·        Handles moderate to complex issues

·        Manages day to day workloads and schedules of direct reports.

·        Responsible for disciplinary action and performance reviews.

·        Full use and application of - marketing research and concepts .

·        Delivers a frequent and high value level of communication with management, marketing, operations, customers and field sales.

·        Proven knowledge of industrial marketing, strategy development and competitive intelligence.

·        Excellent communications, interpersonal and presentational skills

·        Proven ability to implement competitive intelligence methodologies to anticipate and understand market needs and act within the organization to respond.

·        Strong industry background.

·        Ability to provide outstanding leadership and focus to global matrix support groups.

·        Ability to teach, lead and mentor associates and direct reports.

·        Strong overall business acumen.

 

Education and/or Experience

·        BS/BA in Marketing, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field and MBA preferred

·        10 - 15 years’ experience in sales. Knowledge of industrial marketing, industrial sales, strategic planning, retail sales, and distributor management, coupled with a proven, professional approach.

·        10 years’ equivalent industry experience with sealing/coating/lubrication/rotating equipment products

·        Strong business knowledge of multiple industries such as power generation, chemical, oil and gas, water, pulp and paper, ore processing

·        Experience in strategic planning and implementation required

·        Ability to travel a minimum of 30% of working time

Targeted pay range: $160,000 - $180,000/yr. depending on experience

 

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($160,000 - $180,000/yr. DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered “leveled” positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant’s skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a “leveled” based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

 

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
