This job can be described as:

The Painter – Facilities is responsible for performing full-time painting duties throughout the manufacturing plant. This role prepares surfaces, applies paint and coatings, maintains painting tools and equipment, and assists with keeping facility areas clean, safe, and well maintained. The position works under general supervision and follows established safety and quality standards.

On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

 

A typical day at work would include:

·        Consistent, regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this job.

·        Performs routine painting and touch-up work on walls, doors, equipment, piping, and other facility surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.

·        Prepares surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, and removing old paint as needed.

·        Selects appropriate paint, primer, and application methods based on the surface and work requirements.

·        Assists with general facility maintenance and upkeep, including minor repairs and preparation of areas for painting.

·        Inspects completed work for proper coverage, finish, and quality and makes touch-ups as needed.

·        Assists with moving, covering, and protecting equipment and materials to prepare work areas for painting.

·        Follows established safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, tools, ladders, and other equipment.

·        Maintains a clean and organized work area and properly stores materials and equipment.

 

Experience you need coming into this job:

·        Must have experience with brush, roller, and airless spray applications

·        Experience providing high-end interior painting to customers required

·        Previous professional painting experience strongly preferred

·        Experience in proper surface preparation, sanding, patching, priming, and finish painting

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, talk. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Also requires: Ability to reach with hands and arms. Repetitive elbow movements, rotating wrist movements, grasping and squeezing. Must be able to move, reach above the shoulders and bend freely. Must be able to climb ladders and assemble and climb scaffolds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Exposure to high temperature and noise levels exists daily in the work environment. Must be able to wear a respirator if required.

Targeted pay range: $23.00/hr. - $25.00/hr. depending on experience

 

Chesterton is committed to paying all its employees in a fair and equitable manner. The pay range associated with this position ($23.00/hr. - $25.00/hr. DOE) is Chesterton's good-faith salary estimate for the presently available position. Several roles at Chesterton are considered “leveled” positions and as such, the company reserves the right to advertise and or hire for this position at appropriate level depending on applicant’s skillset/experience. If the salary range to be offered for a “leveled” based position (I, II, III, etc.) is different than what was advertised on any posting, that range will be discussed with the candidate before they are formally invited to interview.

 

Hired applicants may be eligible for additional incentive compensation depending on the level and or function of the position which will be discussed with the candidate prior to formal interview. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

 

Please note that the final salary offered for any position will be based on many factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications such as education and experience, internal equity, geographical location, and budget.
